The Green Re-Entry Rehabilitation program was conceived as a strategy to support ex-convicts, offering them a fresh start by providing them with an opportunity to rebuild destroyed homes and gain ownership which will consequently allow them to rebuild their communities. According to the NAACP, there were 2.3 million people incarcerated in the United States in 2008, 25% of the total population of people incarcerated in the
world. The Green Re-Entry Rehabilitation program provides those individuals with on-the-go green construction training, allowing for transitional housing, life skills, education, and sustainable construction training for the American citizens of Chicago.
The Green Re-Entry Rehabilitation program has impacted hundreds of direct beneficiaries and thousands of indirect beneficiaries in America who have benefited from the program in the past 5 years.
